David Letterman took a break from his retirement life to recently catch up with New York Magazine. In his conversation he was able to touch on our current president Donald Trump. Letterman shared his thoughts on Trump and the previous times he interviewed him. If you can recall, Jimmy Fallon interviewed Trump on The Late Show but unlike what many were hoping the interview didn’t challenge Trump enough. Letterman went on to share the exact angle he would have talked with Trump; “I would have gone to work..”
Letterman says that he rarely watches late-night shows in his retirement, but did catch when Trump was on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in September 2016, two months before the election. Fallon, 42, was criticized for taking it easy on the former Celebrity Apprentice host at the time. “I don’t want to criticize Jimmy Fallon, but I can only tell you what I would have done in that situation: I would have gone to work on Trump,” Letterman said.
