Following an intense battle of teams led by Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton, “The Voice” has crowned its Season 2 winner.
Representing Team Blake, fan favorite Jermaine Paul — a former back-up singer for R&B singer Alicia Keys — was the last man standing in Tuesday night’s (May season finale on NBC.
After Jermaine’s name was announced by host Carson Daly as the winner, the singer — who will take home a $ 100 cash prize and a Universal Republic Records recording contract — gave a ‘thank you’ speech, and hugged his family members, friends, fellow contestants and the other judges.
With a tear running down his cheek, Jermaine said, “I just wanna say thank you to everybody that voted for me … Nobody but Jesus, man,” before he closed out the show with an emotional encore performance of R. Kelly‘s “I Believe I Can Fly,” which he performed Monday night, likely securing his big win.
