Earlier last month it was discovered that Jay Pharaoh, and Taran Killam were no longer returning to Saturday Night Live which left two new spots open to join the cast for season 42. According to Daily News it looks like we’ve found out who those new faces will be on the show. Multiple sources are confirming that show writer Mike Day (of Wild N’ Out), and comedian Chris Redd have stepped in to join the cast.
“Saturday Night Live” is beefing up its cast after two major players departed this summer. The late-night sketch series will bring on one of the show’s writers, Mikey Day and comedian Chris Redd as cast members for Season 42, Decider reported. Day — who starred in a few sketches on NBC’s primetime variety series “Maya & Marty” this June — has been writing for “SNL” since 2013. He got his start with the L.A.-based improv group “The Groundlings.”
Redd came up through the Chicago improv scene, training at both The Second City and iO Theater. The comic recently played Hungry the Hunter alongside “SNL” alum Andy Samberg in the 2016 “Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping” film. He also made appearances in episodes of “Empire” and “Chicago P.D.”
Get ready for a new season.
