Earlier today, the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts announced its 2013-2014 season which includes a weeklong festival "One Mic: Hip-Hop Culture Worldwide."
The 2014 hip-hop festival will feature Nas performing music from his classic album "Illmatic" with musicians from the National Symphony Orchestra. The festival will also feature Puerto Rican musicians Calle 13 and a graffiti exhibition.
Kennedy Center President Michael Kaiser said,
"Hip-hop is clearly something new and different for us." I think to do something very current is important. We’re trying to speak to many different audiences."
"One Mic: Hip-Hop Culture Worldwide" will take place March 28 to April 7, 2014. Love it already!

Record executive Sylvia Rhone, who has recently stepped out on her own, proudly presents her debut artist Kat Dahlia. Kat, who’s signed to Sylvia’s Vested in Culture label, hails from Miami, FL. She says her music was inspired by the heartache she suffered after her heart was broken in NYC.
She shot her debut video for "Gangsta" in her hometown saying, "It was really important for me to shoot this video in Miami because this is my hometown. I think that the richness and the culture, the colors, the story, it just felt right."
