As previously shared SNL’s popular segment ‘Weekend Update’ was being eyed for it’s own show on NBC, and now it has been confirmed they will get their own series run. On August 10, host Colin Jost & Michael Che will get 4 separate half-hour features as ‘Weekend Update’ anchors on NBC.

Last month news was swirling that Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update segment might turn into a weekly series in some form, and today NBC confirmed the news. According to TV Line, the network has ordered four half-hour Weekend Update specials hosted by Colin Jost and Michael Che called Saturday Night Live: Weekend Update, which will begin their primetime run starting Thursday, August 10th at 9:00pm. Not a whole lot is known about the limited series, but other SNL cast members are expected to appear, and since it’s not airing until August, this news means we can probably count on Che and Jost to return as Weekend Update anchors for SNL’s 43rd season.
