Straight Up Boom-Bap : Torae – “For The Record”

With so many rappers rising up on the scene, it’s easy to miss out on some of the industry’s hidden gems. So don’t feel too dismayed if you missed out on Coney Island, Brooklyn native Torae and his album For The Record.

Many sites dubbed his album as one of the strongest hip-hop albums released in 2011. But 2011 was a big year, so it’s understandable if you were sleeping on Torae and his music. But 2011 is gone, 2012 is here. And to kick things off, Torae finally released the official music video for his album titled song “For The Record. The song “For The Record” is a track that takes it back to the early days of hip-hop in New York; gritty boom-bap vibes with raw lyricism. The simplicity of the beat gives Torae a chance to drop some ill rhymes and remind why he is a forced to be reckoned with, but of course Torae’s just letting you know what’s up “For The Record.”
